One of the world's largest ceramics competitions, held every three years since 1986; the last edition had 3,890 entries from 77 countries and areas.

Prizes in yen: Grand Prix 5,000,000, Gold 2,000,000, Silver 1,000,000, Bronze 500,000, Special Judge's Award 100,000, plus the Sakazaki Shigeo Ceramics Award of 500,000 for two artists aged 40 or under. About 200 works are shown at Ceramics Park MINO and in the catalogue. The Grand Prix winner gets round-trip travel and a hotel for the ceremony. A catalogue goes to each prize winner and selected artist.

Open to everyone, no qualification needed. Up to three entries per category, in Ceramic Arts, Ceramics Design (Factory Field, company entries) or Ceramics Design (Studio Field). Works must be mainly ceramic, made by the applicant on or after 1 February 2024, not selected in another public competition, and within about 4 m² floor space, 4 m height and 100 kg.
