Sadler's Wells Digital Stage commissions three short dance films on the theme 'The Future Remembers' — responses to legacy, responsibility and the futures we are creating together, at a time of environmental uncertainty and accelerating technological change. Films from last year's commission include Nepenthe, HOLD and Más Glow.

Three commissions of £6,000 each. A Sadler's Wells producer acts as producer on each film and can help shape the idea and source a creative team, and the in-house filmmaker can support editing (subject to availability). The finished films — Dance on Screen works of up to four minutes — premiere at Sadler's Wells' Dance Digital Film Festival in November 2027. All costs, including any external filmmaker and equipment, come out of the £6,000.

Open to filmmakers and dance artists of all styles working at the intersection of dance and moving image, aged 18+. Artists may apply individually or as a group or company; the fee stays £6,000 per commission regardless of how many people are involved. International applicants are welcome as well as those based in the UK, and filming can take place anywhere in the world.
