G & A Mamidakis Foundation Art Prize 2027 — €15,000 and a Fully Funded Permanent Outdoor Installation in Crete
G & A Mamidakis Foundation
The George & Aristea Mamidakis Foundation has awarded its Art Prize since 2019; each winning work joins a permanent open-air collection in Agios Nikolaos. The 2026 winner was Chronotopia by Caitlind Brown & Wayne Garrett. Proposals are judged on concept, relation to the site, viewer engagement, scale, feasibility, safety and long-term sustainability.

The selected proposal receives €15,000, and the Foundation covers the full construction, transport and installation of the work, one return ticket to Crete, accommodation and meals at Minos Palace (a research stay of up to ten days), production guidance, a catalogue and press. The artist makes the work between February and May 2027; it is unveiled in June 2027 and stays on permanent display as part of the Foundation's collection. Finalists are asked for a production budget later.

Open to Greek and international visual artists working in sculpture, installation, sound installation, mixed media, constructions using natural materials, land art, environmental and ecological art, and practices that interweave art and nature in open-air settings. Artistic duos are welcome (prize and construction budget are then shared). The proposal must be a new, original work for one of three proposed sites. Applications in Greek or English, only through the form on the Foundation's website.
