The Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA), the Government of Alberta’s arts funding agency, supports individual artists and organizations across the province through project grants, scholarships and operating funding.

One CA$7,000 scholarship a year from the Government of Alberta (Alberta Heritage Scholarship Fund) for a young Albertan performing artist who shows extraordinary talent and clear educational or training goals, assessed on artistic merit and training merit. Eligible training: any level of undergraduate study with a major or minor in performing arts, or a recognised programme, mentorship, workshop, master class or course focused on music, theatre and dance; graduate programmes are not eligible. The performing arts award rotates annually between music, theatre and dance.

Alberta residents aged 25 or younger on the deadline (primary residence in Alberta for one full year, living there at least six months a year except while studying) who are enrolled in an eligible performing arts training programme. You must be 25 years or younger as of the application deadline. International students without Canadian permanent residency are not eligible.
