International Short Film Festival Oberhausen
Oberhausen is calling for entries to the competitions of its 73rd edition, looking for new works with their own visual language, new perspectives and forms. It runs International, German, NRW, Children's and Youth, and MuVi (music video) competitions; the 2026 edition received more than 7,600 submissions.

Selected works compete at the 73rd International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, 27 April – 2 May 2027, where nearly €45,000 in prize money is awarded across five competitions. Accepted screening formats are 35mm, 16mm, Super 8 and DCP.

Open to short films completed after 1 January 2026. International Competition: productions or co-productions based outside Germany, maximum 35 minutes, German festival premiere required. German and NRW competitions: productions based in Germany or North Rhine-Westphalia, maximum 45 minutes, no festival premiere required. Children's and youth films are previewed through the same forms. Each film may be entered in one competition only.
