Banff Centre's Literary Journalism residency gives non-fiction writers dedicated time and a mentor for a work in progress, within a clubhouse-style writing community in the Rockies. Faculty cover literary journalism, memoir, investigative reporting, cultural criticism and narrative non-fiction.

A 19-day self-directed residency (31 May – 18 June 2027) with a personal writing studio in Vinci Hall, weekly one-on-one consultations with a faculty mentor (Marcello Di Cintio, Monica Kidd or Kamal Al-Solaylee), a talk by Corine Abouseif of The Walrus, public readings and receptions. The Banff Centre Arts Scholarship covers tuition and part of room and meals.

For experienced non-fiction writers and journalists working on a specific creative non-fiction or journalism project. The program is run in English and only accepts projects that are being written in English. Not open to anyone who took part in a Banff Centre residency in the last year, nor to current Banff Centre faculty. Applicants must be 18+ at the time of the program start date; domestic and international applications are welcome.
