The awarded artist gets a one-week residency in Cornwall facilitated by Tate St Ives and Porthmeor Studios (18 to 24 January 2027), a chance to host a creative event for young people at Tate St Ives, remote mentoring from the Shape Arts team and a £3,000 bursary. The four shortlisted artists get remote mentoring from Shape Arts and funded mentoring sessions with an artist or practitioner of their choice.

Artists in the first five years of their career who self-identify as disabled, are 18 or over, usually based in the UK, not in full-time education and not shortlisted in previous Emergent years. For the residency itself, living or working in Cornwall, Devon or Somerset (proof of address needed if selected) and free to spend 18 to 24 January 2027 full time; applicants outside the South West can apply to the shortlisted cohort of four artists but not the residency.
