National open woodblock print competition founded in 1995 by Kanuma City, the first by a public museum in Japan.
Benefits
Grand Prize ¥500,000 (purchase) plus a solo exhibition at the museum in fiscal 2027; second prize and Kawakami Sumio Special Prize ¥200,000 each (purchase), encouragement prize ¥100,000; selected works shown 14–28 March 2027.
Eligibility
Woodblock prints (or works using woodblock as the main matrix) made since April 2025 and not previously exhibited; any nationality or age, but entries only from people living in Japan (日本在住の本人からの応募に限ります); one work per person, framed for hanging.
