Four to seven laureates chosen by an international grand jury (chaired by Jean-Noël Jeanneney) each receive €15,000 — a merit prize plus the foundation's acquisition of the work for its collection (€8,000 for photographs or videos in editions). Sculptors and installation artists may apply with an unrealised project with a production budget of up to €50,000, which the foundation covers. Laureates are shown in a group exhibition at the Wattwiller art centre, with a video portrait; transport and installation are paid by the foundation.
