The Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin holds internationally renowned collections spanning literature, photography, film, art, performing arts and music. About 50 fellowships for 2027–2028, including 10 dissertation fellowships, for research stays of one week to two months: postdoctoral fellows receive $3,500 per month for one or two months; travel stipends cover visits by students, faculty and independent researchers. Citizens or residents of other countries get an additional one-time $500 for J-1 visa and travel costs. Projects can be scholarship, creative work (plays, novels, films), performance-based research or exhibition proposals.

Graduate students, current and former academic faculty at any career stage, and independent researchers such as journalists and artists whose projects require substantial on-site use of the Ransom Center's collections in literature, photography, film, art, performing arts, music and cultural history. Postdoctoral fellowships need a PhD or other terminal degree (e.g. MFA, MLIS); dissertation fellowships are for doctoral students with dissertations in progress; travel stipends are open to independent researchers and artists. Previous recipients may reapply after two full cycles.
