First edition of the BRAVA Awards by Fundación Brava, a non-profit in Uruguay working through a decentralised model: a painting competition meant to find young talent held back by lack of means, with prizes framed as acquisitions for a collection that funds future editions.

Four acquisition awards: 1st prize $5,000 plus an 8-week international residency (flights, accommodation, per diem, workspace, materials and mentoring covered); a Uruguayan national prize of $5,000 plus the residency (native-born Uruguayans only); 2nd prize $3,000; 3rd prize $2,000. Winning paintings enter the foundation's collection, which may later sell them to fund future editions (the artist then receives 30% of the net sale, minus the prize). Finalists are shown in Punta del Este in January 2027 and may join a touring exhibition in 2027, with transport to Uruguay and insurance up to $1,000 per work paid by the foundation. Anonymous jury of five international art figures.

Emerging painters of any nationality aged 19 to 30 inclusive at the closing date, at the start of their career; artists who have had solo exhibitions in major museums or institutions are not eligible. One unique painting made in 2025–2026 (oil, acrylic, watercolour, tempera, gouache or mixed pictorial media on canvas, linen, wood or paper), 100 × 100 cm to 150 × 150 cm, never exhibited, awarded or nominated before; unframed. No prints, reproductions or photographs; any use of AI disqualifies. The foundation especially seeks artists facing financial difficulty.
