Bologna Children’s Book Fair
The Illustrators Exhibition of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, organised by BolognaFiere, brings illustrators and publishers together. An international jury of five selects about 300 finalists and then the winners, whose original works are exhibited at the fair and on tour.

Winners are shown in the Illustrators Exhibition at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair (5–8 April 2027), which then travels to other countries. Finalists (about 300) get a free 4-day fair ticket and a reserved place in the Portfolio Marathon on 8 April 2027; one young finalist is chosen to create the visual identity of the 2028 fair.

Illustrators of any nationality, provided they were born prior to 31 December 2009, whose artwork is intended for use in children’s books, may enter directly or through schools or art courses. Exactly 5 works on the same theme, unpublished or published after 1 January 2025. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in the creation of the works is not permitted.
