Lakkos is a Modernist house inside the five-hundred-year-old Venetian walls of Heraklion's old town, with two upstairs bedrooms sharing a kitchen and bathroom and a private downstairs apartment with its own. There are no separate studios — guests work in their rooms, in the kitchen, or in the downstairs apartment's former living room — and the residency's reputation is for murals and street art, with paint provided for one mural, spray excluded. The winter pitch is deliberate: most artists come in the hot months and miss the city as Cretans actually live it, when Heraklion is busy with locals in their own downtime and the residency is quieter. A reduced rate of €150 a week is offered for dates between 4 January and 2 April 2027.

Open to all creatives, minimum stay two weeks. There is no programme and no expectations beyond being pleasant to the other guests and keeping the place tidy. A 50% non-refundable deposit reserves a stay. The application is a short note: what you want to do, who is coming with you, preferred dates and length, plus a statement, short biography and a link to the work.
