New Mexico's Art in Public Places programme buys finished artworks for publicly accessible buildings across the state — community centres, libraries, courthouses, schools, clinics, tribal administrative offices and more. Local selection committees choose; purchases and installations run from late 2026 to 2028. Since 1986 the programme has placed more than 3,000 works and paid over $21 million to artists.

Open to artists residing in the United States and to galleries in the US; galleries may submit on behalf of artists they represent regardless of residency. Special consideration is given to artists who identify as members of a Native American tribe or community. All visual art media and genres, suitable for interior or exterior display; work must be completed, available for purchase, durable and low-maintenance. One application per artist, up to three works.
