This Banff Centre visual arts residency asks how performance emerges through movement, stillness, listening, endurance, care and collective action, and how images and objects are activated through the body. Artists combine independent studio work with faculty mentorship and workshops, with Banff's landscape as a site for place-based work.

A five-week faculty-led residency (5 July – 6 August 2027) with lead faculty Brendan Fernandes and claire fleming staples and guest faculty Abril Zales (Museo Tamayo): an individual studio with shared production facilities and technicians, studio visits, workshops, open lectures and open studios at the end. The Banff Centre Arts Scholarship covers tuition and part of room and meals; Canadian Indigenous artists receive a full scholarship.

For individual artists or duos (no more than two collaborators) at any stage of their career, with post-secondary training in visual arts or equivalent experience and peer recognition, including through traditional knowledge. Suited to ceramics, digital media, painting, drawing, printmaking, papermaking, performance art, photography, sculpture and installation. Applicants must be available for the entire five weeks and must be 18+ at the time of the program start date; domestic and international applications are welcome.
