The Jack Straw New Media Gallery, now in its 29th year, is a Seattle venue where artists from many disciplines show works built on sound, supported by the centre's recording studios and engineers.

Up to four artists or teams receive up to 20 hours of free studio time with an engineer to realise the sound component of a new work, with training as needed, and present it in the Jack Straw New Media Gallery in Seattle — a venue for experimenting with audio and other technology.

Established and emerging artists in any discipline or genre, as individuals or teams; artists may apply to only one Jack Straw residency program per year. Artists outside the Puget Sound region may apply, but travel and lodging are not included. Jack Straw staff, interns, board members and their immediate families may not apply, and 2026 participants cannot reapply to the same program for 2027. For work in which sound is an integral or exclusive element.
