Two grants of up to CA$50,000, funded equally by CALQ and the Université du Québec à Rimouski (UQAR) within the Transforming Climate Action ocean research programme, for works created in collaboration with UQAR research teams over up to 18 months (April 2027 – August 2028). 1) Digital arts — a 30–45-minute fulldome work on natural vs. human-caused climate change seen through marine sediment archives (Prof. Stephanie Kusch’s team), with fulldome training, a creation residency, premiere and promotion at the Société des arts technologiques (SAT) in Montréal; no prior fulldome experience needed. 2) Dance — a choreography of up to 75 minutes on coastal erosion and the adaptation of St. Lawrence shoreline communities (Prof. Guillaume Marie’s team), with a 3–5-day creation residency and premiere at the Vieux Théâtre de Saint-Fabien. Eligible costs: artist pay, research, collaborators’ fees, production, travel and stays (up to CA$200/day in Canada), rights.

Professional artists in digital arts (a work or body of work presented publicly in a peer-recognised context, independent of training) or dance (at least one independent production presented in a peer-recognised context), applying as individuals. Professional artists (CALQ definition: self-declared, paid practice, peer recognition, public presentation in peer-recognised contexts) who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, ordinarily reside in Québec and have lived there for the past 12 months; Inuit and First Nations artists residing in Québec are eligible. Incorporated groups and projects already completed are not eligible.
