The City of Mountain View’s Visual Arts Committee commissions public art under the Two Percent for Art Program; the new Public Safety Building will house the Police and Fire Department headquarters, the emergency communications centre and the emergency operations centre.

An all-inclusive public art budget of $400,000 for one to three sites at the new Public Safety Building — an exterior plaza memorial to public safety personnel lost in the line of duty, façade wall panels and sculpture at Villa/Oak, and functional bicycle racks. Shortlisted artists receive a $1,000 design stipend for a design proposal.

Professional artists and artist teams who reside in the Western United States (California, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming), are over 18 and have proven experience designing, fabricating and installing permanent outdoor public art of similar scope, scale and budget.
