The Texas Institute of Letters gives an annual fellowship to support the completion of a literary book. The 2027 award was raised to $10,000 and is open to writers with a Texas connection or a project about Texas.
Benefits
A $10,000 award to fund the completion of a literary work of fiction, poetry or nonfiction for a general audience; the 2027 recipient is honoured at the TIL awards banquet on 1 May 2027 in College Station.
Eligibility
Writers who have lived in Texas for at least five consecutive years at some point as of the time of application, or whose work substantially concerns Texas. Previous recipients of the Jones or Dobie-Paisano Fellowships are not eligible; other inducted TIL members are eligible.
