A $13,500 grant to realise a solo exhibition in a gallery at Mia, plus regular support from the museum's preparators, exhibition and lighting designers, registrars, media relations and programming staff. The artist works with museum staff to mount and install the show.

Artists who currently live in Minnesota and remain there through the exhibition; emerging and mid-career artists wanting to complete, display or advance a body of work in a museum. No art degree or sales history needed. Degree-seeking students, people under 18 and permanent Mia employees are excluded. One applicant is chosen per open call (rounds normally in October, February and June).
