PhotoPlace runs juried calls with a two-tier result: up to thirty-five images are hung in the Middlebury gallery in Vermont and another forty go into the online gallery, all of them in the exhibition catalogue. Selected photographers stay permanently on the gallery website, are promoted through its social channels with links back to their own sites, and are eligible for exhibition awards.

The subject is human experience read broadly — portraiture, street photography, documentary, family, labour, culture and identity. The juror is Meredith Fleischer, founder of The MF Gallery in Royal Oak, Michigan and director of The Detroit 15.
