The DA Kunsthaus Kloster Gravenhorst, a former Cistercian convent run by Kreis Steinfurt, has awarded its Projektstipendium KunstKommunikation since 2005 for participatory and site-specific art in the rural region.

Up to 15 ideas are invited to a three-day idea workshop (15–17 April 2027) with accommodation and meals paid, and each receives €500 after submitting a detailed exposé by 9 July 2027. Up to four projects are chosen in early September 2027 and receive up to €9,000 each (fee, materials, organisation, travel and transport), a rent-free apartment during the on-site phases and a rent-free project room/studio of about 25–35 m² open to visitors. Projects are realised from February 2028 and documented by the Kunsthaus; at least one resulting work joins its collection.

publicSeo.openCall.eligibility

Artists with a completed academy or university art degree or comparable qualifications; no age limit; couples or groups with joint projects may apply. Projects should be communicative, participatory and/or site-specific and take place in and around the DA Kunsthaus and/or the 24 towns of Kreis Steinfurt — site-related installations, community-oriented public projects, process-oriented work with local businesses, clubs or schools, or works shaped by the participation of non-artists. Shortlisted applicants must be able to attend the idea workshop on 15–17 April 2027. Application documents are in German.
