A £3,500 artist fee (£2,750 at the start, £750 after the final sharing) and a £500 production budget claimed against receipts for travel or materials. A six-month research-and-development residency from January 2027 with at least 14 days of work, mostly in Birmingham, one-to-one conversations with university and Eastside Projects staff, matching with academics, and a public sharing in June/July 2027.

Artists working in any medium with at least three years of professional experience and a portfolio, based in the UK with the right to work there, and not enrolled on an academic course including a PhD. Proposals interpret the theme «touch» (haptic and sensory experience, embodied knowledge, accessibility, medical perspectives, digital touch, materiality, memory and emotion, non-human senses) and name one or more of the listed University of Birmingham academics to work with. Two artists are selected.
