A $25,000 CAD commissioning award, paid in two equal installments over two years, for artist fees, set construction, travel of company members, or other costs of the work. Two residencies at Banff Centre. Program fees, accommodation, meal plans, studio space, and Banff Centre production support are fully covered for up to 8 people. The creative residency has no technical production support. The production residency includes a venue, two weeks of production development, a professional technical team, and a public performance. Professional fees and contracts for collaborating artists are the award recipient's responsibility. Meals are in the Vistas Dining Room.

The award is open to emerging Canadian choreographers working in contemporary dance. Applicants must be Canadian (citizens or residents). Applicants must be 18+ at the time of the program start date. A choreographer may apply alone or with a dance company or creative team of up to 8 people, including the choreographer.

Programme dates
Creative residency: one of 6–17 December 2027, 10–28 January 2028, or 17–28 January 2028. Production residency dates are set later with the recipient.
Duration
Two residencies over two years. The creative residency is 12 or 19 days. The production residency includes two weeks of production development.
