Hangar is an artist- and curator-run research centre in a 1960s four-storey building in Graça, above the historic streets of Lisbon, with exhibitions, seminars, an education programme and international residencies running alongside each other. The cowork residency is its version for people who already live in the city or want to house themselves: an individual desk plus a shared central table for meetings, 24/7 access, internet and electricity included, use of the recording studio, and — the part that matters — monthly tutoring from curators and art professionals in the Hangar community, studio visits and visits to local art spaces. Residents may take part in the Open Day, the public presentation closing the residency period.

For artists, researchers, musicians, performers, writers, curators and independent cultural projects already based in Lisbon, or who prefer to arrange their own accommodation elsewhere in the city while joining Hangar's residency programme. Stays run from one to six months. A jury selects from applications sent by email with the subject COWORK RESIDENCY.
