Arts Council Norway's assistant scheme pays for an established visual artist, craftsperson or photographer to hire a recent graduate as a half-time assistant for a year, so both can develop their practice.

A grant to employ a newly qualified artist as your assistant in a 50% temporary position for one year, with the option of a one-year extension — transferring experience between established and newly graduated artists and increasing income for both. Not for travel, production or similar costs.

Professional visual artists, craft artists and photographers with at least five years' experience as an active artist who can document high artistic activity and quality. You need a letter of intent with an assistant in the establishment phase — graduated less than five years ago or under 36. Neither you nor the assistant may be studying or hold another job taking substantial time during the assistant period. The scheme can be received at most twice.
