A $5,000 stipend for the one-month residency and a $500 travel allowance; free housing in a private bedroom in the museum's Residence building; $250 for Art Lab materials; free wi-fi; access to the grounds, trails and, at set times, the collection storage. Artists make their own work in the museum's public areas at least three days a week (about 6 hours a day), host drop-in activities in the Art Lab on two days, and give one 15–20 minute presentation to staff.

Artists of any nationality who make work with a direct connection to the visual arts; four artists are chosen for the June, July, August and September 2027 residencies. Portfolio must include at least five works shown publicly or sold to private collectors (Etsy-type craft sales do not count). Digital and performance artists must explain how visitors will have an enriching experience watching them work. Non-US residents obtain and pay for their own visa; the museum cannot sponsor one.
