Creekside Arts is a collective of eight friends, neighbours and artists who live on the grounds in Humboldt County, among the redwoods of Northern California, and open them to visiting artists for two to four weeks. Each artist gets a fully equipped private living space with its own separate studio; there are indoor and outdoor performance spaces, and residents are invited into the weekly community gatherings. Other visiting artists may or may not be there at the same time. The retreats are deliberately quiet — time to reflect, make and walk — closing with an informal showing or artist panel. The collective also runs a separate curated three-week Spring Residency for five to seven artists, announced as its own open call.

Open to artists across disciplines — printmakers, illustrators, painters, photographers, sculptors, ceramicists, dancers, performers, writers, playwrights, poets, musicians and mixed-media artists. Preference goes to projects engaging what the collective cares about: land, place, community, nature, climate, education and social and political justice. Stays are a minimum of two weeks and residents give a casual showing or artist panel at the end.
