A grant of £500 to £10,000 covering up to 100% of the cost of one high-quality instrument central to the applicant's performing career, paid in two stages (up to 80% on a supplier's invoice, the rest on proof of payment and delivery). Two quotations are needed for items up to £5,000 and three for items between £5,000 and £30,000.

Professional musicians living in Northern Ireland, aged 18 or over and not in secondary education, working at a high level as a solo performer or in a small group or chamber ensemble in any genre, who will use the instrument regularly in Northern Ireland and have contributed to artistic activity in Northern Ireland for at least one year in the last five. Excluded: non-professional musicians and anyone who received this award in the previous eight years. One instrument per application.
