Negative Population Growth (NPG), a national membership organisation focused on population issues, runs yearly scholarship contests for students. The 2026 photography contest asks undergraduates to photograph an area they see as harmed by US population growth and explain it in 20–50 words.

Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident and an undergraduate college student enrolled in an accredited program at a school in the United States (or operated overseas by the U.S. government) for the Spring 2027 semester, aged 14 or older; applicants under 18 need a parent or guardian signature. Using artificial intelligence (AI) is not permitted and can lead to disqualification. Relatives of NPG employees or directors are not eligible.
