A commission to create a site-specific artwork for the east glass stairwell façade and the upper north-facing glass window of the upgraded Elliott West Wet Weather Treatment Station, a King County Wastewater Treatment Division facility. The $40,000 design fee covers artist fees, collaboration with the project team, research and design development; up to $5,000 of extra travel funds is allocated during design. 4Culture manages implementation with a selected fabricator, which covers materials, fabrication, on-site installation, transport and Washington State sales and use tax, and the artist reviews glass samples with 4Culture and the division. Contract January 2027, design development January to May 2027, design review in May or June 2027, fabrication 2028 to 2029, installation 2029 to 2030.

Individual artists or artist teams residing in the United States who have experience working in two-dimensional glass and/or on façade projects of a similar scale. One artist or team is selected. Not eligible: King County employees, 4Culture staff, board and Public Art Advisory Committee members and their immediate family or business partners. Applicants must be free to join a virtual orientation (20 November) and an interview (week of 7 December) if chosen as finalists.
