Kao Foundation Media Art Grant 2027 — Up to ¥1,000,000 for Digital-Art Exhibitions and Projects, Deadline 10 November 2026 (Japan)

Up to ¥1,000,000 per project, set by the scale and content of the plan; covers production costs (equipment, staff) as well as the costs of staging. Paid by bank transfer at the start of the month, three months before the event. Other grants and sponsorship may be combined.

Projects in which several artists take an active part in planning, making and presenting a media-art work (digital technology at its core; art-and-science and media-art-with-music projects are welcome). It must be a real exhibition or performance between April 2027 and March 2028, in Japan or abroad with Japan preferred; online-only projects are excluded. Payment goes only to an organisation's bank account: personal accounts, special accounts and foreign remittances are not possible, so in practice the applicant must be a Japan-based organisation. One application per applicant; the grant is not given to the same group in two consecutive years.
