It exists for the practical reason that a flourishing practice often costs more than it earns — the smaller space brings the price down for people whose work does not need floor area. Residents get the same concentrated time and the same access to the community of artists passing through the programme, with the chance to exchange feedback and collaborate.

Designed for writers, curators, thinkers, photographers, artists and designers who work at small scale and do not need a large studio. Stays run up to three months. Applications are read year-round by the same committee as the main programme; there is no application fee.
