The annual national book contest of River Teeth, the journal of literary nonfiction.

The winner receives a $1,000 honorarium and book publication by the University of New Mexico Press. Manuscripts are screened by River Teeth's co-editors; final judge: Sue William Silverman. Winner and finalists announced by April.

A book-length manuscript of literary nonfiction in English — memoir, personal essays, investigative reporting and more — 35,000–85,000 words, previously unpublished as a complete book (excerpts in journals are fine). Open to entries from outside the US. Name off the manuscript; close friends, family and former students of the judge may not submit.
