Onion City Experimental Film Festival
Onion City is a festival devoted to experimental film and video, founded in the 1980s by the Experimental Film Coalition and run by Chicago Filmmakers since 2001. Its 37th edition presents eight to ten programmes of around 60–70 works from around the world over four days in Chicago. Entries are accepted through FilmFreeway only.

Selected works screen at the 37th Onion City Experimental Film Festival, a four-day festival presented by Chicago Filmmakers (8–11 April 2027), with juried awards. The festival covers return shipping of physical exhibition copies by UPS or US Mail.

Open internationally to filmmakers and video artists working in experimental film and video. Any experimental works completed between 2023 and 2027 are eligible, with no length restrictions. Chicago premieres are highly preferred but not always required. Foreign-language work must be subtitled in English.
