Traditional artists of distinction — traditional musicians, singers, dancers, storytellers and practitioners of the oral arts such as agallamh beirte and lúibíní — who identify themselves, and are recognised by their peers, as professional practising artists. Applicants based outside Ireland must have the documentation needed to work in Ireland; the organisers cannot arrange visas or work permits.
